President's Letter October 2020

Michael_Smith_fullsize_portrait.jpgThe fall is always one of my favorite times of the year. I always feel a sense of renewed optimism and energy in the remaining months before the beginning of another year. Here at IABC Philly, we certainly have much to look forward to this fall starting with a great line-up of virtual programs planned that you won’t want to miss.

We certainly recognize the many challenges these times have presented and in response have significantly reduced the cost to attend our programs for both members and non-members of IABC. Participation in these programs has exceeded our expectations and proves that professional development is still a priority and very much on people’s minds. The month of October is Member Month at IABC, which means now is a great time to renew your membership and encourage your colleagues to join the premier association for communications professionals with 25% off annual dues. This special discount will run through the end of the month so be sure to take advantage. You can learn more about IABC and sign up here: https://bit.ly/3kLDM2I

Over the summer we launched a new IABC Philly chapter business profile page on LinkedIn. We’ve received great feedback from our members and there are also opportunities to contribute content and share your expertise with other communications professionals on our LinkedIn page. One of the great benefits of being involved in a membership association such as IABC is the opportunity to share information, network with and learn from some of the best minds in the communications industry. Our chapter website has also undergone an extreme make-over recently with both content and navigation enhancements.

Finally, please take our 2020 membership survey. Don’t worry, it’s not long and you can complete it in less than five minutes. We are hoping for 100% participation from all members as your feedback is invaluable in helping your chapter leadership team to set priorities and continue driving member satisfaction.

Thanks again for your support of IABC Philadelphia. This year has been unlike any other, and fraught with challenges on many different fronts. However, these times have also once again showed the important role we play and value we bring as communications professionals, perhaps more now than ever before. Rest assured, IABC Philly remains committed to delivering the programming, resources and networking opportunities to help our members succeed.
