IABC Philadelphia Chapter Committees

The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philadelphia Chapter is led by our President in partnership with our Board of Directors. Supporting the board are several interdependent committees, each lead by a Vice President, that support and advance the chapter’s strategy and mission.

Executive
The Executive Committee sets the strategy and broad goals of the chapter. The committee is also responsible for chapter finances, budgeting, and approving expenditures, as well as judging chapter awards. The Executive Committee includes the current Chapter President and Vice Presidents of each committee. In addition, the President-Elect and Immediate Past President serve as members and consultants to the Executive Committee.

Membership
What is a chapter without members? The Membership Committee has the critical task of maintaining and increasing our chapter member roles with professional communicators, teachers, students, consultants, and other interested parties from southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. Committee responsibilities include maintaining mailing lists for active, dormant, and potential members (including attendees of events who are not IABC and/or chapter members), recruiting new chapter members and committee volunteers, encouraging IABC membership renewal, accreditation and certification, and coordinating student activities.

Communications
At the heart of IABC is communications. Members of the Communications Committee support the entire chapter by maintaining our website, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms. Along with other committee members, the Communications team also partners to promote trainings and events in concert with other regional and national chapters, conducting and analyzing surveys, consulting with chapter members on communications best practices, and creating original content.

Programs and Events
IABC Philadelphia is committed to sponsoring or supporting valuable member touchpoints every month. These can include training, seminars, networking sessions, or social events. Members of the Programs and Events Committee design, research, and coordinate our monthly events in partnership with expert presenters, vendors, and fellow IABC chapters around the country. Committee members also look to secure sponsorships for individual events and/or ongoing chapter support.

Technology
Never before has technology been so critical in keeping people connected. Our Technology Committee ensures that all of our events, whether virtual or in-person, provide attendees with an entertaining, seamless, and informative experience from sign-up to post-event survey.

Sponsorships
Financial partnerships with local, regional, and national firms are an important component to the underwriting of our chapter’s mission. These funds supplement membership dues to provide continuing education for our professional members while helping to launch the careers of our student members. The Sponsorship Committee works to build relationships with companies that align with our values, ethics, and goals to advance corporate communications at home and around the world.
