Dynamic, experienced, world-class communicator with strong technology and writing skills sought for winning global communications team.
This role will manage public relations plans and programs for the company to advance its reputation and awareness. It will provide proactive and reactive communications to publicize the company’s products, services, events, showcase expertise, and build favorable relations and reputation with various media outlets, publics, stakeholders and audiences.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, or journalism and at least five years of corporate public relations or five years of public relations agency experience. The experience should specifically include: media relations, social media, extensive writing, and crisis communications.
Plan PR efforts and support major external events by working with partner organizations, Marketing team, and product line executives. Identify opportunities for: speakers, interviews, and publicity. Create talking points, announcements, briefing books and media to maximize sponsorship.
Pitch news stories, feature articles and field media questions
Collaborate with PR team to evaluate editorial calendar opportunities
Proactively research, publicize and blog positive stories about the company.
Monitor and manage media and social media; respond to escalated issues to maintain a positive company reputation.
Create, manage and execute effective media relations, social media and publicity plans and campaigns to support product lines, corporate awareness, and positive reputation
Provide subject-matter expertise as needed to help coach executives when communicating with the media, public speaking, social media, or other public-facing forum
Assist with issues management and crisis communications support as needed
Support internal communications as needed
Support community relations efforts as needed
Support writing, video, new media and content projects as needed
Collaborate with various groups within the Marketing team and the broader Penske organization including: HR, Legal, Security, Risk Management, Investor Relations, Leasing, Rental, Logistics, Used Trucks, and Executive Offices
Other projects as assigned by Director
Bachelor’s degree in PR, communications or journalism required
Master’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or business preferred
Five years or more experience in corporate PR or PR agency setting required
Media relations and crisis communications experience required
Transportation, logistics, manufacturing or other heavy industry PR experience helpful
Excellent writing skills; fluent AP Style needed
Strong planning, execution and implementation skills needed
Highly tech savvy; new media skills including various social media platforms/blogging required
Must have a can-do, collaborative mindset; hands-on work ethic
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
