Manager, Brand and Visual Communications

Ursinus is recruiting for a Manager, Brand and Visual Communications.

The manager, Brand and Visual Communications has a passion for design and visual storytelling and produces multimedia content to recruit, retain and celebrate students, faculty, staff and alumni.

As our senior graphic designer, this individual provides strategic council to campus partners, ultimately managing the integrity of our visual identity and brand strategy across print, digital and web. The manager has a solid project management background with the ability to efficiently execute multiple projects simultaneously and successfully. A key member of our division who reports to our director of marketing, this role oversees a graphic designer and, together, they are responsible for all creative work, marketing collateral, publication design, environmental branding, and general art direction. This individual should be incredibly collaborative, a proactive communicator and listener, and, above all else, have a sense of humor who can inspire others to think boldly and creatively.

Reporting directly to the director of marketing, the manager of brand and visual communications oversees a graphic designer. They participate in the annual project planning and budget discussions of the office and ensure projects are completed on time, on brand, and on budget. Though reporting to our director of marketing, this individual works closely and daily with every member of our communications and strategic partnerships team, as well as key partners across campus.

Responsibilities
*The manager assumes several responsibilities. Partnering with the director of marketing, the manager works very closely with partners across the department to ensure the college brand is executed successfully among all institutional materials, signage, print and digital communications.
*This position also takes the pulse of the campus visitor experience and works with campus partners to ensure the physical campus environment reflects our visual brand in a lively, spirited, and bold manner.
*The manager is the college’s lead graphic designer and, as such, creates or directs the design and development of high-profile materials for the college, including for admissions, advancement, student affairs, and other key stakeholders.
*Along with the graphic designer, this individual will also act as a consultant to internal clients, making recommendations and providing feedback to campus partners responsible for department-level marketing efforts. The ability to build and maintain relationships is important; this is a high visibility position that will have to balance many requests in a cordial, confident and straightforward manner.
*Under the guidance of the director of marketing, this role proactively manages the design resources and workflow of communications projects to make sure that all deadlines are met with high quality work that builds the Ursinus brand. The manager designs marketing and editorial materials WITH BOTH print and digital formats in mind, allowing us to repackage content creatively and effectively.This role is also the lead administrator of our digital asset management system.
*Serves as the liaison to creative partners such as freelancers, agencies, photographers, videographers, and printers.

Requirements and Qualifications
*Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, digital design, or related field, with 5-7 years’ experience.
*Well versed in the design principles for both print and digital.
*Ability to listen and understand what the stakeholder is looking to accomplish andtranslate that into effective marketing collateral. Understands the business realities and changing landscape of higher education.
*Maintains a calm but confident disposition, while being both decisive and able to make hard decisions.
*Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment with a high volume of design requests requiring quick turnaround time.
*Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven record of meeting deadlines.
*Ability to provide financially sound design options.
*Open to—and embraces—new ideas and unconventional thinking.
*Maintains a high proficiency in all current design software (particularly Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, After Premiere and Photoshop). Working ability of HTML5, CSS. UX/UI is a plus.
*Stays informed on emerging technologies, trends (within and outside industry), and best practices, and communicates those developments in an enthusiastic and inspiring manner
